Two Carlow developments to go under the hammer today

County Carlow will be the focus of major attention today as two properties go under the hammer at separate auctions.

First up, DNG will be auctioning off the Glendale Estate on the Shillelagh Road in Tullow.

The partially completed development comprises 63 houses at varying stages of internal finish and 58 sites. The development, which is on a 14 acre site, will be sold in one lot with an AMV of €150,000.

It will be auctioned off at 2.30pm today at DNG’s headquarters at 30 Leeson Park, Ranelagh.

Meanwhile, Knight Frank will be auctioning off the derelict Bagenalstown House at their offices in Percy Place in Dublin at 3pm.

The 20-acre property has a guide price of €130,000 and boasts expansive grounds, stables and a walled orchard.

Calls had been made for Bagenalstown Town Council to buy the property but it is believed that they do not have the financial resources to do so.

The property currently comprises a substantial protected structure set on expansive grounds which include stabling for horses and an old coach house, a large garden and walled in orchard with two large fields.

The house is a three bay double bow fronted period residence with two five bay wings arranged on two floors over a basement level, measuring approximately 6,500 sq. ft (604 sq. m). There was a two storey extension built to the rear in the 1840’s which has recently been damaged by fire. The house has been derelict for a number of years and is in need of complete renovation.
