Film director Jim Sheridan has sold his Dalkey home for just over €2.3 million.
The fee received for Martha’s Vineyard on the Coliemore Road is just a fraction of the €10m the six-time Oscar nominee was reported to have first sought for the property back in 2008 and less than half of the €5m-plus he is reported to have invested in it.
The sale of the 3,400sq ft seafront property ends the My Left Foot director’s 18-year association with the sote, which won an award for its design for architects De Blacam & Meagher when it was unveiled in 2007.
The property includes a sauna, steam room, four bedrooms, an entertainment room with a roll-down cinema screen, kitchens and a bathroom with a sunken bath.
The balconies run the length of the building over the sea and the interiors are lit up via a central stairwell and atrium.
Among its notable attributes is an infinity pool, which is filled by the tide.
The property was rented out in 2011 seeking €7,000 per month. Agents Colliers confirmed yesterday to The Irish Independent that they had sold the house but would not comment further.
