Win tickets to the Punchestown National Hunt Festival

The Punchestown National Hunt Festival gets underway next Tuesday April 24th and to mark the occasion MyHome.ie has five pairs of tickets to give away to the final day of the festival, the AES Family Day on Saturday April 28th.

The horse racing industry is worth millions to the Irish economy each year and we pride ourselves on the success of both our breeding and our jockeys.

Ireland might be one of the world’s smaller nations but the Coolmore Stud in Tipperary, for example, is the world’s largest Thoroughbred stud farm.

Some of the top trainers in the world reside here include Dermot Weld, John Oxx and Aidan O’Brien while our jockeys are also highly rated the world over with Ruby Walsh and Tony McCoy amongst the most notable faces in the winners’ enclosure.

Ireland was even chosen recently to provide a horse export market to China, which would be worth almost €40 million to the economy.

With top venues such as Punchestown, The Curragh, Leopardstown and Galway, to name but a few, it is little surprise that a large portion of the Irish public are fascinated by the equine sport.

With that in mind, MyHome.ie has decided to look at some of the finest homes with stables that are on sale at present.

We’re also offering you a chance to win a trip to Punchestown on Saturday April 28th. This top prize includes race entry for you and a friend, a free racecard, a €5 drink voucher and a €5 free bet courtesy of Ladbrokes.

To be in with a chance of winning this top prize simply log on to our competition page and tell us the name of a horse’s home.

One of the most eye-catching properties from a horse racing perspective on the market at present is Seven Springs Stables in The Curragh.

Set on 4.27 acres, this was the home of Mick Halford for the last number of years and as home to a number of top class horses including Cockney Lass, Queen’s Wharf, Daganya, Golden Cross, Ms Emma, Tipperary All Star, Ms Sally and many more.

The property features seven paddocks all post and railed and is certainly worth a view for all those interested in housing horses on their property.

At €1.5 million that option will be out of many peoples’ league but homes with stables don’t have to cost a fortune.

Camber in Aughavas, Co Leitrim is a five bed detached house, which comes with six stables and costs a much more affordable €350,000.

Meanwhile, there is also a three bed bungalow for sale in Rooskey, Co Roscommon on eight acres with three stables for just €159,000.

Another horsing home worth checking out is The Pines in Glenasmole, Co Dublin.

This six bed detached house boasts a full riding school with riding arena including five paddocks, eight loose boxes, foaling stables and various outbuildings.

With land in excess of eight acres, it is fantastic value at €525,000.

Wellbank Stables, meanwhile, is a five bed detached house in Mullacash, Naas, Co Kildare. Equipped with two stables and bounded by stud-railed fencing, it is also worth viewing with agents DNG Doyle.

Meanwhile, Rossmore Cottage in Friarstown, Co Kildare is located just 6km from The Curragh and comes with 18 stables.

Another option is the seven bed home on two acres of land in Ballybeg Upper, Ferns, Co Wexford, which comes with eight stables.

At just €220,000 it offers exceptional value, as does the €270,000 bungalow in Rathmagurry, Curry, Co Sligo, which also comes equipped with stables, a tack room and a feed store on circa 10 acres of land.

Equipped with two stables, is the impressive four bed Stables home in Ballygarrett, Co Wexford, which is on 4.5 acres of land and is priced at €425,000.

Finally, for anyone looking to seriously develop their interest in horse racing, they could do worse than look at the stable yard at Mylerstown, Hugginstown, Co Tipperary that is on the market for €420,000.

It is set on circa 20 acres and includes five furlong steeped gallop, a number of stud railed paddocks and a recently constructed purpose built yard comprising of 22 stables, a walker, tack room, offices and a large concrete yard.

It is for sale with or without the residence and is every horse trainer’s dream.
