Well known Kinsale bar on the market

ONE of Kinsale’s best-known and largest bar/nightclubs, An Seanachaí, is for sale for a receiver, guiding €450,000.

Set on Main Street, and with a distinctive and typically Kinsale feature slate-hung facade, it has over 6,000 sq ft of space, and dual access, with a rear entry from Market Quay.

The pub changed hands around 2006/2007 for a  c.€2 million sum, and was one of several Kinsale bars (including the Folk House and Bulman) selling then for €2m-€3m sums, which bucked the national trend of bar sale slumps.

Joint selling agents are Bill Morrissey of Morrisseys, in Dublin, and Cearbhall Behan of Frank V Murphy & Co, acting for receivers Michael McAteer and Patrick Dillon of Grant Thornton.

It has 3,400 sq ft at ground level, in traditional style and is licensed for 300 patrons, has a first floor smoking area, linked ground and first floor modern 1,900 sq ft night club licensed for 100, and former B& B residential accommodation, as well as commercial kitchen.

“The availability to purchase licensed premises in Kinsale is rare and especially premises of considerable size combining bar, restaurant and nightclub facilities,” Cearbhall Behan notes.

The same joint agents last year sold another Kinsale bar, the 3,200 sq ft Oscar Madisons, for a sub €300,000 sum to a local buyer, who’d previously worked in the trade in Kinsale.

Details: Morrisseys, 01-6765781; Frank V Murphy, 021-4274204
