Well, that depends, mainly on where you might want to live, what amenities you are looking for and what price you are willing to pay! So today's piece is a little different, we need your help to make it happen.
We'd like you to do a search on any area you'd like to live in and find a property that you think represents decent value then rank it on the following:
- Price
- Neighbourhood
- Amenities
- A few words on why it is better than other properties in the area.
If enough of us respond it might help to give a small picture as to what people are looking for when they look for property. While we may think that 'we all want the same things', it just doesn't work that way, personally I like to have decent access to public transport, but that clearly isn't a deal-breaker for people who live in rural areas of Mayo (for instance).
Other people may want to be close to their work, or schools... So go ahead, it'll be Easter weekend soon, for a few minutes find a place you'd like to call home and share it with the rest of us! Of course, if you want to actually view properties you can go to our 'on view' section and see what is being shown in your area.
We look forward to finding out your opinions on what's looking good (or what isn't!).
We'll start with one from me. http://www.myhome.ie/137570
1. Price: €245,000
2. Neighbourhood: Fairview in Dublin 3
3. Fairview Park, close to town & shops, schools, great public transport within a minutes walk and a quiet cul-de-sac.
4. I lived on this road many years ago and always liked it, you are right next to the city but it doesn't seem like it. At almost a quarter of a million euro it isn't cheap, but this place doesn't need a lot of work. It does have a wedge shaped back yard and that is a pain if you have kids or pets and want some enclosed space, for an extra €100,000 you could go down the street a little and get that. To rent a property in this area is about €1,200 a month, with a 90% mortgage it can be bought and will cost about €1,160 on a 3yr fixed rate (before tax relief at source if you are a first time buyer),but in trying to get the right mix of location/price this one does it for me!
Happy virtual house hunting!
