Vacancies in the membership of the Property Registration Authority

The Minister for Justice and Equality, Alan Shatter TD, has announced that he is seeking expressions of interest from suitably-qualified persons for membership of the Property Registration Authority. The Authority was established on 4 November, 2006 under the provisions of the Registration of Deeds and Title Act 2006. The Authority replaced the Registrar of Deeds and Titles as the registering authority.

The main functions of the Property Registration Authority (PRA) are to manage and control the Land Registry and the Registry of Deeds and to promote and extend the registration of ownership of land. The PRA also operates the Ground Rents Purchase Scheme under the Landlord and Tenants Acts.

Details of the statutory functions of the Authority and the qualifications required for membership are available on the website of the Department of Justice and Equality (www.justice.ie) and will be available on the website of the Public Appointments Service (www.publicjobs.ie).

The closing date for receipt of expressions of interest is Friday 15 November, 2013. Appointments to the Authority will be made by the Minister for Justice and Equality. It is anticipated that vacancies arising in the membership of the PRA during the rest of 2013 and during 2014 will be filled from those persons who submit expressions of interest in response to this call.

Members of the Authority currently receive Board fees of €11,970 per annum. Travel and subsistence expenses are payable, where applicable, in respect of attendance at meetings.
