Stillorgan home has price cut by more than a quarter

A home dating from the 1830s, which is currently for sale in Stillorgan, Co Dublin, has had its price cut by over a quarter.

Dunstaffnage, a seven-bedroom house on 0.5 acres of land on the old Stillorgan Road in Stillorgan has had its price cut by 27%. When it went on the market last May it had an asking price of €2.6 million but is now available at €1,850,000, according to a report in today’s Irish Times.

The property, which is in need of a major overhaul, comes with a swimming pool and woodland.

Colliers is handling the sale of the property, which lost a good deal of its garden over a decade ago when houses and apartments were built on part of the grounds in a scheme called Dunstaffnage Hall.

The 395sq m (4,250sq ft) two-storey period house is well screened from the modern development. It has had some refurbishment: a series of solar panels on the roof now provide hot water. The agent suggests that there is potential for a future owner to develop two to four houses subject to planning permission.
