Bookmakers Paddy Power have started to take bets on who is going to buy Abbeville, the former home of ex-Taoiseach Charles J Haughey, which went on the market last week for €7.5 million.
Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary is the bookies’ favourite to buy the Kinsealy residence at odds of 2/1.
He is closely followed by Westlife frontman Shane Filan at 7/1 and Manchester Utd manager Sir Alex Ferguson at 8/1. Footballers Michael Owen and John O’Shea are also given odds of 10/1 with former Taoisigh Bertie Ahern and Brian Cowen at 20/1 and 33/1 respectively.
Others listed as possible buyers include businessman Denis O’Brien at 20/1, golfer Rory McIlroy at 25/1 and musicians Bono and Andrea Corr at 33/1.
