Speaking to the New Ross Standard, David Quinn of Quinn Property said it was a very good day.
Lot 1, 15.75 acres at Clonsilla sold to a local farmer for €175,000. Lot 2, 6.5 acres at Ballinastraw, with sheds and outbuildings, sold for €124,000, almost €20,000 per acre. It sold to a businessman from the Gorey area.
Lot 3, thirteen acres at Ballinastraw, sold to a person from the Gorey area for €156,000, while Lot 4, five acres at Ballinastraw, sold to a local farmer for €69,000.
In total, the 40 acres sold for €524,000, an average of around €13,000. David Quinn said there were at least 20 bidders on the day, and others didn't even get a chance to put in a bid.
Quinn Property will put two more properties under the hammer next month.
A farmyard, with outbuildings, on 20.7 acres, at Kilcavan, Tara Hill, will be auctioned on Thursday, May 17. It will be sold in two lots, and is being guided at around €10,000 per acre.
On Monday, May 14, 11 acres at Cullenogue, Inch will be auctioned, with a guide price of around €10,000. The sale also includes the option of a 10,000 gallon milk quota.
