Property tax waiver may apply to pyrite homes

The Minister for Finance Michael Noonan has said that houses affected by pyrite may be eligible for a property tax waiver.
He made the comments speaking in the Dáil today as the bill for the new tax was being debated.
There are an estimated 12,000 Irish homes affected by pyrite, which causes structural damage in floors and walls.
The Minister also said tax clearance certificates may be withheld from property owners who do not pay the tax.
