The Business Post reports that Revenue has reached an agreement with Payzone and Omnivend to be approved payment service providers for the new tax, which will come into force on July 1st.
Both firms operate in-store payment systems around the country through kiosks and credit/debit card terminals.
A spokesman for the Revenue Commissioners told the newspaper that it had approached a range of service providers with technological criteria before approving the two providers. It added that it was still open to taking on eligible others.
As well as through Payzone and Omnivend, people will also be able to pay at post offices. It is hoped that this will avoid the sort of confusion surrounding the household charge payments last year.
To date 470,000 have still to pay the household charge.
