Over 890,000 have now paid household charge

New figures released today have shown that over 890,000 homeowners in Ireland registered to pay the household charge as of 9am this morning.

The deadline to pay the €100 tax was March 31, and therefore anyone who now pays will be subject to a fine.

Between 1.6 and 1.8 million households in the country are liable to pay the charge, meaning approximately 50% of people still have not paid.
