Opposition to the forthcoming water charges is going to be “enormous”. That’s according to People Before Profit TD Richard Boyd Barrett, who was heavily involved in the recent campaign to boycott the household charge.
Speaking about the forthcoming water charges, due to be introduced in 2014, Mr Boyd Barrett said that the anger felt over the household charge should be a warning to the government about what might lie ahead.
He said: "The Government are at sixes and sevens, they are falling out with each other, because of the huge rebellion that has taken place against the household charge.
"They must know that if the rebellion against the household charge was significant, the rebellion against water charges is going to be absolutely enormous."
