Number of positive housing measures in Budget 2014

There was some positive news for homeowners in yesterday’s Budget.

While people may have suffered in other ways, the fact there was no increase on home heating oil or gas is a huge plus.

For those planning renovations, they will also benefit from tax relief over the next two years.

For those searching for homes, there was also a commitment that NAMA would be providing 4,500 new homes for the Dublin market while Minister for Finance Michael Noonan also gave a commitment that all those in mortgage arrears would be given a resolution by their bank.

Tax incentives are also set to be offered to encourage the restoration of Dublin’s historic buildings, as well as those in Cork, Galway and Kilkenny.

Meanwhile, €10 million has been set aside for an unfinished housing estate resolution initiative while all local authority housing without insulation will be provided with it.
