Nine lots sold at DNG Maxwell Heaslip & Leonard's third summer auction

DNG Maxwell Heaslip & Leonard held the third of its summer auctions last Friday. With the live auctions gaining more and more popularity, the company is solidifying its status as one of the most innovative marketeers when it comes to the auction process. The national exposure it promises to provide has resulted in the company being a go-to agent for those looking to achieve serious exposure and, in turn, the best possible selling prices.

Friday last saw the property experts sell nine of their 16 lots before and during the course of the day, and in the process of doing so achieved prices considerably higher than expected in many cases. The proceedings opened with No 20 Raleigh Row, next to the Jes primary school. Being offered to the floor with a guide of €170,000, bidders were initially slow to get involved but things soon got moving and the lot was withdrawn at €185,000, with four interested parties bidding. A sale was not agreed with the highest bidder, but negotiations are still under way with several parties expressing interest after the auction.

The second lot of the afternoon in Corcullen was a late withdrawal just before the auction, much to the disappointment of numerous potential buyers who were present, however it is expected that the property will come back to the market in one of the autumn auctions. Lots 3 and 4 were also withdrawn before the auction but both were sold directly after proceedings for excellent prices.

The fifth lot of the day saw a retail/commercial unit at No 20 Millbrook in Milltown go to the floor, and it was quickly snapped up for €25,000. From there, things began to heat up with the eagerly anticipated sales of two restaurants on Dominick Street come to the floor. The first, No 53 Dominick Street, saw the opening bid reduced to €170,000 before the auction heated up, with the property finally selling for an impressive €302,000. It was then the turn of No 51 Dominick Street which saw the bidding start at €395,000, however after half an hour of constant bidding and tireless work from auctioneer James Heaslip the hammer finally fell at €523,000. The auction continued with the sale of 4.2 acres of land in Renvyle for €80,000 and the withdrawal of a cottage in Cornellistrum, which also sold after the auction.

In total, nine of the 15 lots offered for sale on the day sold and a number of the remaining lots have been under negotiation during the week. The auction team in DNG Maxwell Heaslip & Leonard have once again shown that their experience, coupled with their attention to detail makes them a leading light in the Galway property market.

The team at DNG Maxwell Heaslip & Leonard are already looking forward to their September auctions, which will launch later this month, and are currently finalising the listings.
