The New Jersey home where legendary rocker Bruce Springsteen wrote his classic ‘Born to Run’ album has gone up for sale for $299,000 (€264,000)
The 828-square-foot two-bedroom house at 7 ½ West End Court in Long Branch is owned by three fans of the singer.
Jerry Ferrara, his sister, Kim McDermott, and a friend, Ryan DeCarolis bought it in 2009 with the idea of turning the home into a tribute to the New Jersey rock legend, but those plans were derailed.
Springsteen has said that he wrote every song on the Born to Run album – including the title track and other classic songs such as Thunder Road and Jungleland – while living in the home from 1974 to 1975.
The house does occasionally draw visitors, and the current owners say they try to accommodate the fans.
A March 2009 photos shows a house at 7 1/2 West End Court, in Long Branch, N.J., where Springsteen has said that he wrote every song on the "Born to Run" album.
“We’d been to a couple of auctions where people paid a ridiculous amount of money for a (Springsteen) signed guitar,” Ferrara told NJ.com,
“To me, the house is better than that stuff. It’s the place where he wrote Born to Run.”
But, after paying $280,000 for it six years ago, he admitted that “we probably paid more than it was worth when we bought it”.
McDermott said: “I hope it doesn’t just become some house on West End Court. We would hope someone would keep ‘the Bruce factor’ in it.
“In a dream world, Bruce would show up and say ‘I think I should own this still.’ But I don’t think that’s going to happen.”
