About the town
Bandon is a town which lies on the River Bandon between two hills and is sometimes referred to as the Gateway to West Cork. It is 27km southwest of Cork City on the N71 with Bus Éireann providing a regular service from Cork City. There are a number of festivals in the town each year including Bandon Summer Festival and Bandon Music Festival. There are four secondary schools in Bandon as well as a number of primary schools. Amongst the local sports clubs include a rugby club, football club, GAA club and tennis club. There is also an 18 hole golf course on the grounds of CastleBernard. Bandon is also home to numerous shops, pubs and restaurants.
