Less than 110,000 people have paid the controversial new household charge since the start of the year, new figures have revealed.
The Local Government Management Agency’s latest figures show that just 109,569 households have registered for the €100 charge to date, brining in just over €10 million.
That is a long way short of the government’s target of 1.6 million households and €160 million in revenue.
Householders have until March 31st to register for the charge at www.householdcharge.ie
