Minister for the Environment Alan Kelly has said there will be no further concessions from the government on water charges.
Speaking ahead of today's protest march in Dublin, Minister Kelly said the system being introduced now is final, and would not be further amended or influenced by protests.
He was speaking ahead of a major rally in Dublin today, with tens of thousands expected to demand that the charges be abolished altogether.
This morning Minister Kelly said: "The package that has been put forward is the best package available. It was rigorously thought out by myself and others."
He also said he believed the revised package had brought more people around to water charges, saying: "The majority of reasonable people have come with us in relation to this."
