The number of people who have now paid the new household charge has risen to just under 2,400.
According to the Household Charge Project Board, 2,390 people have paid the fee with either a credit or debit card with a further 400 having set up direct debits.
People can register their property at www.householdcharge.ie but the charge can also be paid by postal order, cheque or at local authority offices nationwide.
The campaign against the €100 charge, being led by a number of opposition TDs, has vowed to step up their campaign against it though.

They say they are confident that as many as half of households will not register for the charge before the March 31 deadline.
