Is the snow a welcome distraction to the current economic crisis?

Less than a week ago the headlines were full of doom and gloom regarding the economy, the IMF had arrived, details of the four year plan were revealed, we read about the up coming budget, the general election in January – the list is endless. While none of this has gone away the snow falls and icy conditions of the past week have now taken over and become the main focus of our news.

With snow falling relentlessly, Met Eireann warned again today there is no sign of a let-up in the Arctic weather with the freezing temperatures expected to hang over the country for up to another week. Forecasters also said between two and four inches of fresh snow will hit much of the country during today.

While the snow brings its problems and has made for difficult traveling conditions the snow has also brought people out and about in throngs. Many snowmen, snow angels, snowball fights, shut schools, crisp winter walks and sleigh and toboggan races are now abundance across the country.
