Is ammonia safe to use when cleaning?

Protection Mask
Looking for a safe way to clean your home? Ammonia may make the place look nice and clean but be wary of the toxins that you can"t see. If mixed with bleach, it gives off toxic gases which can be extremely irritating to the eyes and nose, not to mention the internal organs such as the lungs. It is also poisonous and therefore not ... safe to have around the house especially if there are kids about. It is also highly explosive when near an open flame.

Ammonia is in most shop bought cleaning products. If you are using ammonia based products, make sure the area is well ventilated. If used in a controlled manner, then ammonia should be safe enough to use but be careful. There are lots of ammonia free cleaning products on the market now, so it"s better to be safe than sorry.
