Irish Water to begin reading meters ahead of first round of bills

Irish Water will tomorrow start reading meters in advance of their first round of bills.

The utility confirmed last week it is expecting a large number of queries about the bills, because of gaps and errors in the information they have on some properties.

Meanwhile, it is reported today that the names of more than 100,000 council tenants have been passed on to Irish Water by local authorities.

The company consulted the Data Protection Commissioner before requesting the information from councils.
