Irish pub sales continue to decline

Sales of Irish pubs have fallen by 34% since 2007, according to new figures from the Drinks Industry Group of Ireland (DIGI).

The latest figures also show that pub sales have continued to decline by 8.2% in the period from January to July of this year.

Sales in July dropped 11.4%, according to DIGI.

"The weakness in the domestic economy and the continued pressure on discretionary income are clearly having a negative effect on the drinks sector with the pub trade suffering disproportionally," the industry group said.
