IPAV to hold Novice Auctioneer of the Year competition in January

PSRA Licensed Auctioneers and Valuers will have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in auctioneering in IPAV’s Novice Auctioneer of the Year Competition in Tattersals Ratoath, Co. Meath on 25thJanuary 2019.

The competition for Novice Auctioneers of all ages, is being introduced by IPAV for the first time in January 2019. The competition is being held in the prestigious surrounds of Tattersals Ireland in Ratoath, Co Meath.  Tattersalls Ireland is renowned for selling top class National Hunt and Flat horses in which it continues to lead the field. Their rostrum is second to none and a wonderful opportunity for any budding Auctioneer to conduct an auction at.

The competition involves a bidding sequence organised to demonstrate probable occurrences in the saleroom and to test the competitor’s skill, knowledge and presence on the rostrum. Each entrant will have a number of lots to auction in various categories to include, property, chattels, livestock, machinery and fine art.  The premise makes for a highly anticipated and exhilarating event where budding auctioneers are whittled down to three finalists who will carry out one final auction for charity at the Gala Dinner later that evening.

Commenting on the competition Chairperson of IPAV’S Young Professionals Network Niamh Giffney (pictured above) said: ‘This competition will provide a fantastic opportunity for Novices of all ages to get a feel for the Rostrum and give them a rewarding experience that could potentially open new doors in their career’.

The winner will receive training in the America’s Auctioneering Academy in Texas USA.
