You’re unlikely to buy a car without test driving so you’re even less likely to buy a home without having a look around it first.
Usually the first port of call when browsing for a new place is to look on a property portal such as MyHome.ie. Once you’ve found somewhere that catches your eye, the next step is to contact the estate agent advertising the property.
Their details are located on the brochure page of the property in question. These days often the easiest way to register your interest is to use the ‘Email Agent’ option to drop them a line and then sort out a time and date that suits you both to go and look at the place. It’s not uncommon to go back for a second or third viewing if you’re particularly keen on a place, particularly if you want to get the opinion of a friend or family member.
The same property brochure will quite often contain the office number for the selling agent and/or the auctioneer dealing with the property and their contact details meaning you can call them to chat more about a property and set up a viewing if you wish.
Then there’s open viewings. Each weekend there are hundreds (sometimes thousands) of properties across the country which are open for viewing. This means you can pop along during a set time and browse a property.
This can be an informal way of taking a look at a place without added pressure. An estate agent will always be available at an open viewing but you can have a quick look around without dealing with them and possibly arrange a chat with them afterwards if your interest has been further piqued by the viewing.
