How much is your property really worth?

Castle

In recent years we have all become a little too obsessed with the value (in euro and cents) of our homes. But now, less and less people are bragging about the value of their homes for obvious reasons. So what is your property actually worth now? Apart from the old rule of economics, that something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for ... it, there are a few other indicators of value.
  • What are other similar properties in the area selling for?
  • How much have prices in general changed in your area in recent months?
  • How long have similar properties in the area been on the market?

The longer they have been on the market, the more likely it is that they are over-priced. You may need to include this into your expectations when selling. Talk to local estate agents to get an clearer idea. You need to decide what your property is worth to you and on this basis make a decision about whether you are happy to sell. Remember that a man's home is his castle, but everyone has a different idea of what constitutes a castle.
