Household charge reminders to be sent next month

Those who have yet to pay the €100 household charge are to be sent reminder letters next month by the local authority in their area.

Leitrim County Manager Jackie Maguire who is Chair of the Household Charge Project Board says they have spent the past couple of months exchanging data with various agencies.

The agencies involved include the Revenue Commissioners, Property Tenancy Boards, and the Property Registration Authority.

Ms Maguire says there may be some cross-over, but they hope the letters will bring in more of the 42% of people who have yet to pay the charge.
