Fuel for the fire. How to make your own logs

[youtube=

is here but why not start stockpiling some homemade logs for winter. All you will need is some old newspapers, water, a log making machine and a bit of elbow grease.
If you like me have stacks of newspapers which you keep meaning to recycle here is a new way you can put them to good use. Apparently, you can make a paper log from one newspaper that will burn for an hour. The process couldn’t be simpler.

  1. Tear up old newspapers
  2. Soak paper in a bucket of water for a few hours until it goes to mush
  3. Place the mush in the paper log maker
  4. Fold the arms of the paper maker
  5. Press firmly until all the water has drained through the filter (this is where the elbow grease comes in)
  6. Remove the paper log
  7. Place in a suitable place to dry. If you have space in a greenhouse, this would be ideal.

Check out the log maker available from ecoshop.ie for €31 euro including delivery anywhere in Ireland. They are also available at B&Q.
Check it out and let us know how you get on.
