Diswasher Alternative: Hands that do dishes

Get your Marigolds out
Verdict is in and we say: Get those marigolds out, save some cash and care for the environment by washing dishes by hand.

Dishwashers are notorious for eating up electricity. Try hand washing dishes for a couple of months to see if there"s a noticeable change in your electricity bill. The days of "I don"t do dishes" are behind us. ... The time spent stacking and un-stacking the dishwasher could be better spent hand washing dishes in a basin of hot soapy water.

Don"t leave the tap running when washing the dishes. Fill the sink or a basin and try to keep water usage to a minimum. If you are filling a basin, you can use the waste water on plants when you have finished. If your hands are just too precious for the sink, then make sure that you fill the dishwasher before switching it on. Be economical and eco-friendly at the same time.
