Deadline for water conservation grant extended

The deadline for applications for the €100 Water Conservation Grant has been extended to 22 October.

The deadline was supposed to be midnight last night, however, it has now been extended due to a high volume of calls and applications yesterday and postal delays earlier this week.

The Department of the Environment said that by 4pm almost 800,000 households had applied for the Water Conservation Grant.

Over 1.3 million householders are eligible to apply, as they have registered with Irish Water.

In order to cope with extra demand from callers, the Department of Social Protection is providing an additional phone line for people to contact it with enquiries regarding their applications for the grant.

Households can apply online at www.watergrant.ie or by phoning the water conservation grant support team on 076-1087890 or 1890 100043.
