Controls over estate agents to come into law by end of year

Long-awaited controls of estate agents are expected to come into law by the end of the year.

The changes, which have been promised since 2005, will impose significant controls and sanctions on the activities of estate agents, including auctioneers.

The Irish Times reports that the new laws arise following disquiet at the behaviour of some estate agents during the boom years.
