Carbury farm fails to sell at auction

An 841 acre farm in Carbury, Co Kildare failed to sell at auction on Wednesday.

In what was expected to be one of the biggest farm auctions of the year, there was plenty of interest in the auction at Fitzwilliam Square in Dublin.

A €4.5 million bid for the site was offered by Frank Fahy of Shannon Homes in Dublin. However, this was turned down as the auctioneers Campion wanted a figure closer to €10,000 per acre.

The property was also offered in 10 separate lots. Farmhouses in Clonkeeran, Knockcor and Kilglass could each be bought with surrounding lands while Kilglass Lodge could be bought on its own. However, there were few bids tabled and none were accepted.

Negotiations between Campion and interested parties have been ongoing since the auction.
