Homeowners in central Dublin that are uninsurable because of repeated flooding have demanded that they be exempted from the property tax.
Cllr Anna Quigley (Ind) told the meeting of the Dublin Central Flood Action Group that for the purposes of the property tax, the "value of a house is the price achievable in a transaction".
But as these houses are not saleable because of flooding they should be exempt from the tax.
A list of homes that are exempt from the property tax, which comes into force in July, has yet to be released.
