AskDave.ie Case Study - Old Boro, Swords

Recently MyHome.ie welcomed on board our latest blogger AskDave.ie. Here the AskDave team provide us with a case study on work they did in the Old Boro in Swords.

Case Study – Old Boro, Swords

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Originally designed by the architect Francis Johnston, whose other works include the GPO and St. George's Church Hardwicke Place, The Old Boro School opened in 1809 and played an integral part in the life of Swords until closing its doors for the last time as a school in 2000. Today, having been carefully and extensively renovated by Dave from www.redbrickconstruction.ie so that the traditional and contemporary merge comfortably together, The Old Boro has once again become a hub of Swords life as a public house. A large extension was also added under the guidance of the project Architects (Space Projects) and for the TP Smith group of Public Houses. This was a huge project in terms of the time allowed and the extent of works to be undertaken. A nine month timeline was needed by the Client and so from the very start the pressure was on. The job was divided into the renovation of the existing premises, under the watchful eye of the Fingal County council Heritage Department, and the construction of the new build. In the last 8-10 wks the two programs were merged and the project was successfully delivered within the nine month period.
CLIENT COMMENT: This was our first time to work on such a large project with Dave from www.redbrickconstruction.ie and although we had been assured they were up to the task, we were a little nervous starting such a tricky job with a new company. It soon became apparent however that they knew exactly what they were doing and how to bring the job in on time. It was a great relief to us and we were able to relax a bit more and actually enjoy watching things proceed at such a pace. The end product is now there for all to see and is a credit to everyone involved....and yes, we have worked a few times since with Dave and are still very happy with them!  TP Smith, Owner
