The Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, Phil Hogan TD recently announced two appointments to the Private Residential Tenancies Board.
In mid-2011, the Minister issued a call for expressions of interest in serving on State boards under his aegis. On foot of that process, the Minister has now appointed Ms Tricia Sheehy Skeffington, a barrister, and Mr Tim Ryan, a public relations consultant, to the Board for a term to last until 30 May 2015.
The Board is an independent statutory agency established in 2004 under the Residential Tenancies Act and its main functions are:
- the resolution of disputes between tenants and landlords
- the registration of tenancies in the private rented residential sector
- the provision of advice to the Minister in relation to the private rented residential sector
The two latest appointments bring the Board membership to 12 persons.
