Appointments made to Private Residential Tenancies Board

The Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, Phil Hogan TD recently announced two appointments to the Private Residential Tenancies Board.
In mid-2011, the Minister issued a call for expressions of interest in serving on State boards under his aegis. On foot of that process, the Minister has now appointed Ms Tricia Sheehy Skeffington, a barrister, and Mr Tim Ryan, a public relations consultant, to the Board for a term to last until 30 May 2015.
The Board is an independent statutory agency established in 2004 under the Residential Tenancies Act and its main functions are:
  • the resolution of disputes between tenants and landlords
  • the registration of tenancies in the private rented residential sector
  • the provision of advice to the Minister in relation to the private rented residential sector

The two latest appointments bring the Board membership to 12 persons.
