Apartment Gardening: Grow your own Herbs

Pot of herbs starting to show
My sticks of herb seeds have start to show! I was becoming doubtful and was thinking they might be a no show but by following my advice of watering well along with the great sunshine we have being having the herbs have started to appear! Just take a look - although I"m not sure which herb is which ... yet!

We also have a new addition to our newly started apartment (balcony) garden - we felt the the herb pot looked a little lonely so we bought a Basil plant to keep it company. We took a short cut on this one, in that we didn"t plant / sow the basil seed from scratch we bought the basil plant in the local garden shop for less than a €1!

Basil plant

The thing to remember with basil plants is that can be fairly contrary i.e. your Basil plant could die even if you do give it enough TLC! Basil plants perfer to grow indoors so we have moved ours into the kitchen. The great thing about basil is you can use it in many cooking dishes. When you need some all you have to do is pick a few leaves and hey presto new ones will grow in their stead!
