Trim named Ireland's cleanest town

Trim was yesterday named Ireland’s cleanest town.
The Co Meath town pipped Swords and Killarney to take the top spot in the Irish Business Against Litter (IBAL) survey.
In their report, An Taisce judges said all sites surveyed in Trim had got the highest grade.
“The approach routes were particularly well-presented and this very high standard was sustained for all sites surveyed in Trim,” the judging panel said.
Trim Town Council borrowed some €5m in 2006 to upgrade the streetscape and pavements in the town and it has proven a worthwhile investment. To mark its success, the town will receive a number of trees for planting locally.
