700,000 yet to register with Irish Water

Over 700,000 people have still not registered for Irish Water despite the revised Government package on the levy.

The firm reported earlier this week that 900,000 customers have now signed up for the charge, which is €160 for single households and €260 for families.

Thousands have still to register though with another major protest planned for next Wednesday.

A spokeswoman for Irish Water said: “The total registration is over 900,000 and there is a trend emerging.

“Over 25,800 people registered from Saturday to Wednesday of last week. This is an average of 5,000 a day which is up from 3,000 a day last week.”
