New figures from the Central Bank show that almost 13% of all residential mortgages are behind on repayments.
The figures released for the three months up to June show 98,000 residential mortgage holders are now three months or more in arrears.
That's despite the Central Bank's warning to lenders that they will face penalties if they don't tackle the arrears crisis.

Bank of Ireland, AIB, Ulster Bank, KBC, Permanent TSB and ACC Bank were each ordered to offer a long-term solution to 20% of their customers in arrears.
However, that warning does not appear to have had any impact as of yet, with the number of mortgages in arrears rising in every quarter since the Central Bank began measuring the data four years ago.
