11 of 12 properties sell at Roscommon auction

Eleven of 12 properties to go under the hammer sold at an auction in Roscommon at the weekend.

Three well-known pubs in the area were amongst the properties to be sold at the public auction in the Central Bar in Roscommon town last Friday.

Amongst the properties to change hands on the day was O’Brien’s pub in Knockcroghery, which sold for €17,000 above its reserve price of €100,000 at €117,000 and Paddy Finn’s pub in Kilteevan, which sold for €247,000 – just €3,000 below its reserve.

Dalton’s pub in Fuerty also sold for €225,000, €60,000 below its reserve of €285,000.

Local auctioneer John Earley of Property Partners Earley told Shannonside Radio that the auction was proof that there is positive movement on the property market.

This was the first auction they have run so far this year along with their joint selling agent ERA Oates Auctioneers.

Mr Earley says land continues to be a good seller with all three sites at Friday’s auction selling for above their target price. Indeed, one 2.6 acre site in Knockcroghery sold for €25,000 more than its reserve price of €75,000.

Mr Earley also says while they are not getting the prices they would want for houses they are selling - with one 4 bedroom home in Roscommon town selling for €105,000.
