The number of property transactions recorded across Ireland in the first three months of 2023 was down 2.2% compared to the first quarter of the previous year.
A study of the Property Price Register by MyHome.ie shows that there were 12,788 transactions recorded between January 1st and March 31st this year.
That compares with 13,077 sales on the same period of 2022.
Despite the fall in the volume of sales, the amount spent on property has jumped by almost €600 million.
In total there has been just over €5.049 billion spent on property in Ireland in the first three months of 2023. This compares with €4.466 billion in the same period of 2022.
In total there was an additional €582,287,160 spent in Q1 2023 compared with the first quarter 12 months earlier.
The average amount spent on a property has also jumped from 341,546 to 394,798 – a jump of 15.6%.
The largest one-off transaction so far this year came in January when 8 Marlborough Road in Glenageary, Co Dublin (pictured above), sold off market for €6.5 million. As reported in The Irish Times, the sale was handled by Michael Grehan of Sherry FitzGerald on behalf of the house’s property developer owner.
