Property sales down almost 10% in first quarter of the year

The number of property sales recorded in the first quarter of the year across the Republic of Ireland has fallen by almost a tenth compared to the same period of 2023.

A study of the Property Price Register by MyHome.ie shows that there has been 11,867 transactions recorded across the State between January 1st and March 31st 2024.

This is down 9.9% on the 13,166 transactions recorded for the same period of last year.

The fall in transactions has also had an impact of the amount spent on property. In the first quarter of this year there was almost €4.6 billion (€4,572,060,993.84) spent on residential transactions.
