This week saw the Irish Government announce its support for Portmarnock’s plans to host The Open Championship and the Women’s Open in the coming years, potentially as early as 2030.
While no decision has yet been made by the R&A on when or if the two huge golfing tournametns will come to Portmarnock, the government's support of up to €40 million is a significant acknowledgement that a first ever staging of The Open outside the United Kingdom is now a very real prospect at the famous north Dublin links course.
Portmarnock is already a hugely popular location to live in but the potential for further investment in it and the added focus hosting The Open would bring to the area Is only going to see it become more and more in focus over the coming years.
