One of the most high-profile property transactions of the year was broken by The Irish Times this week when it was revealed that Meta chief executive Mark Zuckerberg, along with his wife Priscilla Chan, had bought Strancally Castle in Co Waterford - one of the finest castles in Ireland.
While the sale was an off-market transaction, with details yet to appear on the Property Price Register, it was revealed that the couple completed the purchase of the Gothic-revival style house and its 440-acre estate on the banks of the river Blackwater from owners Michael and Giancarla Alen-Buckley several weeks ago.
There is obviously great interest in the castle since the story broke, with people anxious to see what the new home of the Facebook founder looks like.
While Strancally Castle is no longer an option for other would-be buyers, there are a number of castles still on the market if you’re looking to the king or queen of your own castle.
